Arts & Crafts Period Large Scale 14k Gold Onyx and Diamond Pendant / Brooch
Arts & Crafts Period Large Scale 14k Gold Onyx and Diamond Pendant / Brooch
This wonderful and large Arts and Crafts Movement period 14k yellow gold, onyx, and diamond pendant/brooch, is entirely hand crafted and epitomizes aesthetic articles from that period, Based on it's style and components, we conclude that it was created during the second half of the 19th century. A large bezel set Old Mine cut diamond sits at the very center, surrounded by a large rectangular polished black onyx slab. This center section is held artistically and securely by eight sets of split prongs and rises above a frame of expertly executed opposing leaf motifs. The center diamond weighs approximately .75ct and is of K/L color and SI2 clarity. An additional interesting feature is that the pendant bale will fold down to to remain hidden if the owner prefers to wear this jewel, using the brooch pin assembly cleverly concealed on the reverse side. With measurements of 1 15/16 inches in length by 1 1/2 inches in width, this article can truly be characterized as " grand in scale." The center section rises a full 3/4 inches above the garment upon which it is worn, adding much dimension to an already visually exciting item. The only marking to be found is the 14k stamped on the reverse side of the bale. Gross weight 27.60 grams.
